Midwinter Night's Dream

Lazar spent ten years in prison. He finishes his sentence and returns to his house. But the house is not empty. A woman and her daughter are living inside. The woman is called Jasna and the daughter Jovana. Jovana is autistic. At first Lazar wants to put them out. Then he sees the place they would move to. It is not somewhere anyone could stay. On that he changes his mind. The three of them begin to live in the same house. The account was built as a reference to the Balkan wars. The film drew anger when it opened in Serbia. The reason was the criticism it made of the country’s part in the war. Lazar Ristovski and Jasna Zalica take the leads, with Jovana Mitic also in the cast, in Goran Paskaljevic’s Serbian and Montenegrin film of 2004.
