Someone Else's America

Alonso is an immigrant who came from Spain. He runs a small, run down bar in Brooklyn. He lives above it with his blind mother. Bayo came from Montenegro. He has been in America less than a year. He does odd jobs for Alonso. The two of them have become friends. The story takes place in and around that bar. The subject is the American dream. For both of them the dream stays out of reach. The skyscrapers across the river are visible. Visible, and never reached. The film does not tell migration as heroism. Tom Conti and Predrag Manojlović appear in the ninety six minute film, a French, German, Greek, British and Yugoslav co-production Goran Paskaljević finished in 1995.
