What Moby Doc Is About
The documentary gives the life of the electronic musician Moby through his own account and through staged scenes. A poor childhood, his father’s early death, a youth spent in punk bands, the great success of the nineties and the collapse that followed are taken in turn; the musician speaks openly about his addiction and about what fame did to him. Rather than a standard music documentary, the account moves through odd, theatrical sequences. David Lynch also speaks in the film. Archive footage, concert recordings and staged scenes run into one another. Rob Gordon Bralver’s ninety two minute American documentary was completed in 2021 and gives room to the musician’s advocacy for animals as well.
