JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL

The documentary follows the period in which Jung Kook of BTS worked on his own. He records in the studio, works at singing in English, rehearses choreography and releases singles one after another in a short time. Within a year he performs in several cities and finishes his album. Park Jun-soo directs. It was shown in cinemas. Its most concrete side is the work. From recording a song to dance rehearsal, from staging to choosing costume, the steps are shown in order. Underneath sits the matter of being alone outside the group. Jung Kook joined BTS at fifteen and had never done anything by himself until then; the documentary takes that transition as its subject. The concert and event sections are the liveliest part, with the stage material shot separately. It was made by the group's own company. There is no critical distance; difficult moments are shown but nothing goes outside the artist's control. It is short and the structure is linear. Who it is for: BTS listeners and anyone curious about how pop records are made. Who it is not for: the promotional tone is plain, the narrative is thin, and there is no story to carry a viewer uninterested in the artist.
