Frederick Wiseman's 1981 documentary watches a modelling agency in New York and the work around it. Commercial shoots, runway shows and magazine covers follow one another. The interest is in how an image is produced. Hours of work for one advertisement are shown; the narrative puts the preparation before the result and records how the models' bodies are directed. There is no narrator, no music and no interviews. The camera stands in the room and records what happens. Andy Warhol appears in one scene.
