An Indian comedy set in Ooty. Pritam is a tourist guide and his friend Jaggan a photographer. Both are looking for the easy way to make money. They come across a woman named Nandini who has arrived in the town. She behaves strangely and it emerges that she has escaped from a psychiatric hospital. The two plan to take her back and claim the reward. But Nandini is not ill; she is pretending in order to find her father. He is a retired judge and his family have prevented her from seeing him. The first half is comedy; in the second the family matter enters and the register changes. It is a remake of a film the director made in Malayalam. The actress playing Nandini is the same in both. Jay Mehta, Revathi, Amrish Puri and Annu Kapoor are in the cast. Priyadarshan directed; it was his first work in mainstream Hindi cinema. A pleasant example for anyone who likes Indian comedy and narratives that change genre. For a viewer expecting a tight story, the film is long and there is a clear break between the humour of the first half and the drama of the second.
