My Brothers and Sisters in the North

The documentary was filmed in North Korea. The director Sung Hyung Cho was born in South Korea. She lives in Germany and makes her films there. She obtains permission to travel to the north. There she spends time with people from different walks of life. She talks with a factory worker. She meets a farmer and a soldier as well. Daily life is recorded. It is plain that the filming was done with permission. The director describes her own questions too. The film chooses to show rather than to judge. The camera goes into homes and workplaces. The account shows the daily order of the country. The documentary takes a view rarely seen in the Western press.
