My Journey Through French Cinema

The documentary takes up French cinema. The one telling it is Bertrand Tavernier. Tavernier comes out of his own past as a director. The film is put together as his personal journey. The account begins with the films he watched as a boy. From there it comes up to his own first work. The period it covers reaches from the thirties to the seventies. The account moves name by name. Jean Renoir and Jean-Pierre Melville are among those names. Tavernier worked for a time as Melville’s assistant. The actor Jean Gabin is inside the account as well. Jacques Becker is another of the names dwelt upon, in a French documentary of 2016 that uses archive footage alongside narration and runs a hundred and ninety two minutes.
