Neptune's Feast

A group of Swedish tourists sets out. Where they are going is a Russian village. They think they will see a ceremony there. The ceremony is called the Feast of Neptune. By the account of it the villagers go into the water through a hole in the ice. But no such custom exists. The report grew out of a misunderstanding. The villagers learn what is coming. They do not want to disappoint the tourists. So they invent the custom from scratch. The preparation turns into a scramble before long. Everyone works to make a good impression. A hole is cut in the ice and the business gets serious. The account is built on that performance. Viktor Mikhaylov and Robert Kurlyandchik take the leads in Yuri Mamin’s Soviet film of 1986.
