A woman who came from the mainland as a bride lives in Tin Shui Wai with a husband much older than she is and their two daughters. Money trouble, jealousy and violence keep growing inside the flat, and her taking a job enrages him further. Ann Hui's 2009 film is based on a real family tragedy that happened in Tin Shui Wai in 2004. She researched the case closely and spoke repeatedly with people who witnessed it. The film is about domestic violence and about how alone immigrant wives are, and it is heavy because it happened, not because it is told heavily.
