Persona3 THE MOVIE #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream

There is a twenty fifth hour in the night: the Dark Hour. During it most people turn into coffins without knowing, and while the city stands still creatures called Shadows move through it. Only those who can awaken a Persona can act in that hour. Makoto and his friends, who form the group SEES, continue to climb a tower called Tartarus. In this film the group is on summer holiday and new members join. Tomohisa Taguchi directs. This is the second of four films adapting the game. The source is Atlus's Persona 3 from 2006, and the difficulty of the adaptation comes from there: the game runs over sixty hours and most of it is school life, forming friendships and managing time. The films have to compress that into ninety minute sections, and the relationship building inevitably shrinks. The distinctive element of the series is how a Persona is summoned: the characters shoot themselves with a gun shaped device held to the temple. The image was argued about when the game appeared and is preserved exactly in the films. The second film is given to the expansion of the group and the relationships inside it; the main story advances in the third and fourth. Who it is for: people who played the Persona series and follow anime adapted from games. Who it is not for: without the game the characters and the rules are unexplained, and the film does not end on its own.
