Pippi on the Run

Tommy and Annika decide to run away from home because they think their parents have treated them unfairly. Pippi joins them and the three set off with her horse. Along the way they build a raft on the river, stop at a circus, go hungry, and the two children miss home. Olle Hellbom shot it in Astrid Lindgren's world with the same cast as the television series, and Inger Nilsson is Pippi again. This entry is calmer than the others, with the adventure reduced and the story concentrated on the friendship between the three. The nature photography and the Swedish countryside make the mood. It treats running away not as a punishment but as a route that shows going back is also a choice. Who it is for: viewers who like seventies Swedish children's cinema and Pippi. Who it is not for: anyone expecting a fast adventure.
