Prague Nights

Fabricius is a middle aged businessman and a foreigner. He does not want to spend the night alone. The diversion he is after turns up in the form of a mysterious woman. She takes him to an abandoned cemetery. There she tells him three tales. The first is The Last Golem, in which a young rabbi labours to make a giant figure out of clay. The second is Bread Slippers, the story of a countess in the eighteenth century. One day a mysterious visitor takes her off to an abandoned mansion. The third is Poisoned Poisoner, a story of killing set in the Middle Ages. Czech pop songs of the sixties run alongside that last account. Miloš Makovec, Evald Schorm and Jiří Brdečka directed this Czechoslovak film of 1969, ninety nine minutes long.
