What Prophet's Prey Is About

Warren Jeffs leads the FLDS, a fundamentalist church with Mormon roots. He has declared himself a prophet, and decides who marries whom, who is expelled from the community, and whose children go to whom. The documentary shows how the structure works: plural marriage, the community's money gathered into one pair of hands, and marriages to girls who are children. In 2011 Jeffs was sentenced to life for the sexual assault of two underage girls, and went on running the church from prison. Amy J. Berg directs, building on the work of the private investigator Sam Brower and the writer Jon Krakauer. Nick Cave narrates. A hundred and one minutes.
