Ramchand Pakistani

The film rests on actual events. At its centre is a Pakistani Hindu boy. The boy leaves his own village together with his father. The two of them cross the border into India by accident. The tension between the two countries is close to war at that moment. Crossing the border takes them to prison. They stay in India for five years. The mother left behind does not know what became of them. The account carries both sides at once. On one side are the father and the son in prison. On the other is the woman waiting. Nandita Das and Rashid Farooqi take the leads, with Syed Fazal Hussain and Zhalay Sharhadi also in the cast, in Mehreen Jabbar’s Pakistani film of 2008.
