What Rezo Is About

Rezo Gabriadze is one of Georgia’s best known artists. He directed theatre, wrote films and made puppets. In this documentary he tells his own life. His childhood fell in the years after the war. A small town, neighbours and small events sit at the centre. The stories are built out of details rather than great occasions. The account is drawn as animation. The drawings are Gabriadze’s own work. In that way the world he describes appears on screen. The film was made by his son Levan. The father talks and the son listens. Levan had made a horror film before this. Here he leaves the camera entirely to his father. Revaz Gabriadze tells his own story in the sixty three minute documentary, a Russian production Levan Gabriadze finished in 2018.
