Saddle the Wind

Steve Sinclair used to be a gunfighter and gave that life up to farm. He lives quietly on his own land. One day his younger brother Tony arrives; his fiancée Joan is with him, and a gun is on his hip. Tony admires his brother's past and wants to be the same man. Steve tries to keep him away from it and fails. The screenplay is Rod Serling's, written just before he set up The Twilight Zone, and it is one of the few westerns he worked on. Robert Parrish directed. Robert Taylor plays the older brother and John Cassavetes the younger; Cassavetes makes no attempt to make the character likeable and the part is the most striking thing in the film. Julie London is also in the cast. Eighty-four minutes. The mould is the western but its subject is violence passed down.
