What Seasons Is About

After the last Ice Age retreated, a vast forest closed over Europe, and this film follows the life that settled inside it. Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud shot for four years in parks and reserves across Poland, Romania, Norway, the Netherlands and Scotland, and they put the camera inside the herd rather than at a safe distance from it, running alongside wolves, brown bears and wild horses. Then people arrive, first hunting, then farming, then clearing. The film makes its case by watching the treeline recede rather than by lecturing about it.
