Semantic Error: The Movie

This 2022 Korean film is the cinema version of a series released the same year. Chu Sang-woo, a computer engineering student who keeps strictly to rules, has to work on the same project as Jang Jae-young, the design student whose name he removed from a group assignment. The narrative moves from conflict to closeness. Jae-young approaches him at first to get even; the relationship changes inside that game, and the narrative keeps Sang-woo's need for order as a trait rather than a fault. Because the film is assembled from episodes, some lines are shortened. Park Jae-chan and Park Seo-ham lead. The tone is light and the university setting takes wide space. Who it's for: those who like Korean romantic series and light queer narratives. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a structure written for cinema; the film carries the marks of the series edit.
