Sex Jack

A small group of revolutionary students is hidden away in the home of a petty thief. Through the days in hiding everyone except the thief takes turns pressing themselves on the young woman among them; the record says she appears unhappy and unwilling. The film does not show this with approval; the contradiction between the group’s talk of revolution and its own conduct is the account’s real subject. At no point is the woman’s consent presented as given. Its seventy minutes take place inside a single flat, and the enclosure enlarges the tension. The account comes from the political vein of Japanese independent cinema of the seventies. Tamaki Katori appears in Koji Wakamatsu’s Japanese film, completed in 1970.
