What Shinjuku Mad Is About
A man’s son is killed. The man is a conservative salesman from the provinces. It happened in Tokyo, in the Shinjuku district. The police take little interest in the matter. The father starts looking for the killer himself. In those years Shinjuku is where the young gather. There are hippies, students and political groups in the quarter. The man is a complete stranger to that world. Nobody he asks gives him a straight answer. The attitude of the young people angers him. The more he searches the further underground he goes. In the end he hears a name. Someone called Shinjuku Mad is described to him. The man also has to accept that his son died for nothing. Yuko Ejima and Toshiyuki Tanigawa appear in the sixty five minute film, a Japanese production Kōji Wakamatsu finished in 1970.
