Shadows

Everything is in place for the young doctor Lazar Perkov: a beautiful wife, a small son, a comfortable house and a good job at the hospital; his friends call him Lucky. When he comes unexpectedly through a serious car crash alive, his life begins to change and people no one else can see appear around him; these people want something from him. Lazar also has to deal with his mother, who carries weight at the hospital herself, with a separation that keeps stretching out and with his country’s unspoken past. Milcho Manchevski’s hundred and twenty minute Macedonian film was shot in Skopje and Ohrid and stands between horror and family drama. Borče Načev plays Lazar; it was completed in 2007 and is the film Macedonia submitted for the foreign language film Oscar.
