What Small Faces Is About

In Glasgow in 1968 three brothers grow up in the same house: Bobby, who has joined a gang, Alan, restless and turned inward, and Lex, a joker with too much confidence in himself. By accident Lex wounds the boy who leads his brother's gang. Everything that happens after that comes back to him. But Lex still thinks he is inside a game. Gillies MacKinnon directed the film, wrote it with his brother Billy MacKinnon, and it rests on their own childhood in Glasgow at the end of the sixties. Gang life is not romanticised here; what is described is the lines that divide a neighbourhood and what those lines do to children. Iain Robertson plays Lex. The film was named best British film at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
