Soccer Stories

The film is made of three separate stories. All three are set in Chile, in the lives of young people. What they share is football, a ritual everyone is bound to in some way. The stories tell the passion and the disappointment together. At the centre is not the match itself but the meaning people load onto it. The account neither sanctifies football nor looks down on it. The work is adapted from short stories and comes out of the vein of Chilean cinema in the nineties that looked at everyday life. The three parts stand independent of one another. The eighty seven minutes are shared out among three parts. Daniel Muñoz, Fernando Gallardo and Boris Quercia appear in Andrés Wood’s Chilean film, completed in 1997.
