Strangers in the Park

Juan José Campanella adapted this from Herb Gardner's play and set it in one small corner of Lezama Park in Buenos Aires. León, played by Luis Brandoni, is a former communist militant in a beret who still regards the world as something to fight over; Cardozo, played by Eduardo Blanco, is a live-and-let-live man who avoids argument. They share a bench and learn to tolerate each other. Both actors played these parts on stage and brought them to the film, which is where the fluency comes from, the way the back-and-forth never stumbles. The story unfolds across a few days and nights in a single location, and a man extorting the neighbourhood enters it, testing what the two old men are willing to ignore. It was released on Netflix on 6 March 2026 and runs one hour fifty-five minutes. Who it is for: viewers who like theatre-derived films built on performance and dialogue. Who it is not for: anyone wanting pace or a change of scene, since the film stays on one bench on purpose.
