Suddenly, Last Winter

Luca and Gustav are a couple in their thirties. They have been together for eight years. Their life runs quietly and ordinarily. Then a bill comes onto the agenda in Italy. It proposes recognising partnerships between same sex couples. The country splits in two almost at once. Within days the argument becomes the largest item of the day. Politicians, newspapers and clergy all enter it. The pair pick up a camera and start following the debate. They go to squares, to rallies and to television programmes. They listen from outside as their own life is discussed. In the same period attacks on gay people increase. The documentary tells it from inside their own home. Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi appear in the eighty five minute film and directed it together, an Italian production finished in 2008.
