What Sunday at Six Is About
The film is set in Romania. The year is 1940. A young man meets a young woman. The two of them fall for each other. But neither knows what the other really does. Both of them work underground. They are part of an organised resistance against fascism. The work is dangerous and secret. Their love grows inside that secrecy. Their meetings are short and careful. What is left unsaid is more than what is said. In time the work begins to shape the relationship as well. Conditions pull the two of them apart. The account is built on that tension. Irina Petrescu and Dan Nuțu take the leads, with Graziela Albini and Eugenia Popovici also in the cast, in Lucian Pintilie’s Romanian film of 1965.
