What Surviving with Wolves Is About
The film tells of a small Jewish girl whose parents are taken by the Nazis, her years long walk eastward out of Belgium and her survival among wolves in the forests. An important warning is needed: our record presents this as a true life story, and it is not. Shortly after the film appeared, in 2008, the author of the book, Misha Defonseca, admitted she had invented it; her real name is Monique De Wael, she is not Jewish, and the journey never happened. The film was made before that admission.
