Tales of the Uncanny

The documentary takes up one sub genre of horror cinema: films built from several short stories. The account begins with Dead of Night in 1945. From there it reaches work like Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt, and then the years after two thousand. The work puts its questions to more than sixty directors, writers and scholars. Eli Roth, Joe Dante and Mick Garris are among those who speak. At the end of the film a list comes out of a poll of those people. The list holds both the five best films and the five best individual segments. The work is one David Gregory and Kier-La Janisse made together. This American documentary, a hundred and four minutes long, was completed in 2020.
