The Actresses

Six well known Korean actresses come together for a magazine shoot. Each plays a not entirely fictional version of herself. As the hours of waiting stretch on, the differences of seniority, age and fame between them come into view. The film gives this not as conflict but as a meeting that is funny and touching at once. The mock documentary form keeps it unclear where the acting stops. What actresses meet in the industry as they grow older is a subject of its own inside the account. Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Mi-sook, Ko Hyun-jung, Choi Ji-woo, Kim Min-hee and Kim Ok-vin play themselves. E J-yong’s hundred and four minute South Korean film was completed in 2009.
