The Circumstance

Laura is a woman in middle age. She comes from a wealthy family. She made herself a lawyer. She has a practice that runs well. Her children are grown. From the outside her life looks settled. Yet her days pass empty. One day there is an accident outside her house. A young man on a motorcycle comes off. Laura takes him to the hospital. The event shakes her from within. The way she sees things begins to change. She cannot stop thinking about the young man. She starts going back and forth to the hospital. The fixation grows little by little. Ada Savelli and Gaetano Porro appear in the ninety seven minute film, an Italian production Ermanno Olmi finished in 1974.
