What The Common Man Is About
Georges Lajoie goes on holiday with his family to the same campsite as every summer. This year the quiet is being disturbed by foreign workers on a building site nearby, and racist remarks are in the air. Then Lajoie kills a young girl, leaves her body beside the workers' huts, and the anger of the campsite finds a ready target. Yves Boisset built the film out of real racist murders committed around Marseille in the early 1970s. Rape, murder and a lynching are shown directly, none of which this record mentions.
