What The Crime of the Century Is About
Doctor Emil Brandt is a physician who works on disorders of the mind. His young wife’s spending has driven him into a corner. Under that pressure he plans a perfect crime. But before carrying it out he goes to the police. What he asks for is odd: he wants to be locked up before he can do it. The police take the request seriously and hold him. A murder is committed all the same and an investigation begins. The film also makes a direct call to the audience to work out the solution. Jean Hersholt and Wynne Gibson appear in William Beaudine’s American film of 1933, seventy four minutes long.
