What The Holy Girl Is About
Amalia is an adolescent, devout, and lives in the faded thermal hotel her mother runs. Dr Jano, a guest, presses himself against her from behind in a crowd gathered in the street. That is abuse, whatever meaning the girl attaches to it. Amalia decides it is a mission God has given her: she will save him. Lucrecia Martel explains nothing and builds unease out of sound and crowds, so that something is always audible and never quite visible. Almodovar's company produced it. Summaries that cast the girl as the one doing the following obscure who actually did what.
