What The Last Horse Is About
Fernando has just finished his military service. He buys Bucéfalo, the horse that was with him through that time, and returns with him to Madrid. But everything has changed and the city is no longer the same. He can neither find a stable for the horse nor spare the time to look after him. Fernando is forced to look for some solution. The film tells how no room is left for a horse in a city that is modernising. The story of a man trying to keep an animal he loves inside a city runs between comedy and sadness. Madrid in the fifties is the real ground of the account. Fernando Fernán Gómez and Conchita Montes appear in Edgar Neville’s eighty five minute Spanish film, completed in 1950.
