What The Last Wedding Is About
North Karelia in the early seventies. Pekka, who emigrated to Sweden, comes back with his family to the village he was born in, a place called Jerusalem. The village is preparing for a wedding, and it will be the last wedding there. Pekka's own marriage has reached a dead end. Everyone gathers for the preparations, and the joy and the grief of a whole human life fit into a single summer day. Markku Pölönen adapted it from Heikki Turunen's novel. It won three Jussi awards in Finland in 1996: best film, best direction and best actor.
