The Mohican Comes Home

Eikichi had left his home town in Hiroshima for Tokyo. He tried to make something of a band there and it did not work. Years later he comes home, to tell them his girlfriend is pregnant. His father Osamu first curses him out, then warms to the idea of a grandchild. Osamu throws a party to celebrate the news. In the middle of the party he collapses and is taken to hospital. From then on Eikichi works at making his father happy. The film handles the illness without weighting it down, and does not let go of its humour. Ryuhei Matsuda, Atsuko Maeda and Akira Emoto appear in Shuichi Okita’s hundred and twenty four minute Japanese film, completed in 2016.
