What The Woodsman and the Rain Is About
Katsuhiko, a lumberjack of sixty, has his quiet routine overturned when a crew turns up in his mountain village to shoot a zombie film. Koichi, the rookie director, cannot make himself heard on his own set, the crew starts leaning on the woodsman for everything, and he is drawn in first against his will and then without noticing. Shuichi Okita builds the comedy not by raising his voice but out of two men slowly learning who the other is. Koji Yakusho plays the woodsman and Shun Oguri the director. It won the special jury prize at the Tokyo film festival in 2011 and opened in Japan in February 2012.
