The Seven Brides of Lance-Corporal Zbruyev

Konstantin Zbruyev is doing his military service. He is a very good shot. Because of it he ends up on the cover of a magazine. After the cover, letters pour in. They come from every corner of the country. All of the writers are women. Zbruyev sets seven of them aside. When his service ends he sets out. What he wants is to find the woman he will marry. The road takes him from town to town. He misses the first address because of a train. He is being taught to dance in the carriage and goes past his stop. At the second address is a girl living in a workers’ hostel. She turns out to be shy and after a few hours Zbruyev moves on. Semyon Morozov and Natalya Varley take the leads, with Yelena Solovey also in the cast, in Vitaliy Melnikov’s Soviet film of 1971.
