What The Station Is About
A small, almost forgotten station in the Apulian countryside. The shy stationmaster Domenico is alone for the night when an elegant woman comes in. The brief closeness that forms while she waits for her train turns into something neither expected; then her fiancé arrives and the night turns ugly as he tries to drag her away. Sergio Rubini directed and played the lead; it was his first film, from a stage play by Umberto Marino. Margherita Buy plays the woman. Rubini took the David di Donatello for best new director and Buy the award for best actress. The summary in the record carries an em dash that came in from an external source.
