The Way of All Flesh

The events take place in Milwaukee at the start of the twentieth century. August Schiller is a clerk at a bank. He is content with his work and his family. One day he is given a task. He is to carry a thousand dollars in securities to Chicago. On the train he meets a woman. She appears to take an interest in him. She asks him to buy her a bottle of champagne. Then she takes him to a saloon. The night goes on from there. The next morning he wakes in a strange room. There is nobody with him. The securities are gone as well. What follows is the man’s fall. Emil Jannings and Belle Bennett appear in the ninety four minute film, an American production Victor Fleming finished in 1927.
