Behzad and his crew arrive from Tehran and settle in a Kurdish village, presenting themselves as engineers. What they are actually waiting for is the death of an old woman, so they can film the mourning ritual that follows, and she stubbornly refuses to die. As the days pass Behzad runs out of patience, sprints to a hilltop every time his phone rings because there is no signal below, and finds himself keeping the village’s time. Abbas Kiarostami holds the camera at a distance and often does not even show who is speaking. The waiting becomes the subject, and the person who changes in the end is the visitor.
