What The Wrong Box Is About
In Victorian England a tontine is set up over a class of schoolboys: the money goes to whichever of them outlives the rest. Decades later two are left, and they are brothers who cannot stand each other, Masterman and Joseph Finsbury. The heirs around them are not feeling patient. Once a corpse starts travelling in the wrong box, the whole thing comes apart. It is adapted from the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson and Lloyd Osbourne, with a screenplay by Larry Gelbart and Burt Shevelove. John Mills, Ralph Richardson and Michael Caine star; it was the first film for Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, and Peter Sellers turns up in a small part.
