What Those Calloways Is About

Cam Calloway is a trapper living with his family in the woods of New England. He wants to build a sanctuary for the wild geese that pass over the area every year and tries to buy the nearby lake for it. He means to pay with what he earns from furs, but the market collapses. The risks he takes cost him his house. A salesman who comes to town makes things harder still. Norman Tokar's Disney production is a family story set in Vermont, but it is far from the usual Disney optimism: the man chasing his dream puts his family in difficulty, and the film does not hide it. Brian Keith, Vera Miles, Brandon De Wilde and Walter Brennan are in the cast. The strongest thing in it is the nature photography. It runs over two hours.
