What Toto, Fabrizi and the Young People Today Is About
A boy and a girl fall in love, the wedding preparations begin, and the real fight breaks out not between them but between their fathers. Totò and Aldo Fabrizi, two of the largest figures in Italian comedy, play the pair who cannot stand each other, and the engine of the film is simply putting them in a room together and letting it happen. Mario Mattoli directs well within the conventions of the period, and what carries the thing past those conventions is the two of them working against one another.
