What Virunga Is About
The rangers of a national park in the Congo try to protect the last mountain gorillas in the world, in a region that also holds armed groups and a company prospecting for oil. It begins as a nature film and becomes an investigation, with hidden cameras, offers of bribes and threats. Its strongest material is the rangers themselves, and the scenes of the man feeding the animals stay with you longer than the fighting. Conflict actually breaks out during production and the crew is caught inside it.
