Voicemails for Isabelle

The premise rests on a single technical fact: disconnected phone numbers are eventually reassigned. Jill is carrying her grief for her dead sister Isabelle by leaving voicemails on her old number, narrating her chaotic San Francisco life in embarrassing detail. When the number is reassigned, the messages start landing with Wes, a real-estate agent in Austin, who falls for the stranger leaving them. Leah McKendrick wrote and directed. Zoey Deutch plays Jill and Nick Robinson plays Wes, with Nick Offerman, Lukas Gage, Harry Shum Jr. and Ciara Bravo in support. McKendrick is a San Francisco native, and the film's view of the city is familiar rather than touristic. It went out on Netflix and became the platform's most-watched film.
