What a Ghostly Silence There Is Tonight

Francesco is shy, quiet and unable to explain himself to anyone. The film follows a single day of his. Ordinary things that start in the morning go wrong one after another; everyone he runs into wants something from him and he cannot say no to any of them. As the day goes on, events come loose from reality and end up absurd. By evening Francesco is inside everything and in possession of nothing. And the thing he wants to say to the woman he loves, he does not say. Maurizio Ponzi directs, with Francesco Nuti in the lead and Ricky Tognazzi in the cast. Ninety minutes. The character Nuti became known for here took a place of its own in Italian comedy of the eighties: the man who never gets angry, never objects, and is walked over constantly.
