What What Will You Do When You Catch Me? Is About
Tadeusz Krzakoski runs a failing state enterprise. He is married and the marriage is not working. His mistress, the daughter of a party grandee, says she is pregnant, and Tadeusz knows he will have to marry her to save his reputation and his job. But divorce in Poland is not a simple matter, and he finds himself inside a sequence of absurd procedures. Stanisław Bareja's comedy satirises the everyday absurdities of socialist Poland: queues, shortages, connections, forged paperwork. Bareja's films were in constant trouble with the censors of the period, and became films whose lines people learned by heart.
