Berlin, 1933. Arthur Kemper, a well known Jewish journalist, has to flee to Zurich to escape the Nazis, and his family follows shortly after. Nine year old Anna leaves everything behind, including the pink rabbit she loves. First in Switzerland, then in Paris and finally in London, she meets a new language, a new school and poverty. Adapting the book Judith Kerr wrote out of her own childhood, Caroline Link tells exile from a child’s point of view and without ever giving in to despair.
